The evaluation covers 280 academic writing positions across seven fields, with 40 positions per field. Every position and literature card was fixed before generation; at each position we generated one version with cards and one without, retaining the first output from each.

WHEN CARDS WERE USED AND BOTH WROTE
With-card version preferred140 continuations with text reported card use; both sides produced text in 107. The no-card arm produced no text in the other 33. The comparison hides which version received cards so the label does not influence the judgment.

39%55/140 with-card wins in the overall review
130 had no use report and 10 reported use without valid text; also 25 ties, 54 no-card wins, 3 neither usable, and 3 inconclusive. This group does not mean evidence was unsuitable.
The 65% and 39% on the right use different denominators and review rubrics and cannot be directly subtracted. Under the same overall review, cards were preferred in 83 of 140 adopted cases (59%) and 55 of 140 not counted as adopted (39%).
Why include positions where evidence may have little opportunity to help?
All 280 positions and cards were fixed before generation; at each position only card availability changed. Keeping every first output avoids selecting favorable cases after seeing results. The 49% describes this cohort, not the win share where evidence clearly had an opportunity to help. Limited opportunity also does not guarantee zero effect.
To split this total into clear versus limited evidence opportunity, each position needs an independent label based only on the draft and cards, followed by group sizes and win shares. This cohort lacks complete, consistent labels, so two reliable rates cannot be filled in; the 50% adoption rate cannot substitute for that split.
218 pairs had text on both sides; 48 had at least one deliberate stop; 14 contained an invalid output; 4 judgments were inconclusive. The AI judge assessed whether a stop fit the draft, without independent human review.
How often was card use reported, and how did written pairs compare?
The evaluation covers forty writing positions in each of seven fields. Card use is self-reported by the generator; the preferences below cover only tests where both sides produced text.

What to know before reading the results
Positions fixed in advance: Forty positions were selected in each of seven fields; positions and cards were fixed before any outputs were generated.
Matched comparison: The writing position, model and task stay the same; only whether literature cards are supplied changes.
No repeated retries: Each side keeps its first output and is not regenerated based on the result.
Who judges quality: An AI judge compares anonymized outputs; this is not an independent human review.
Who reports card use: Card use is self-reported by the generation model without case-by-case human review.
Results are inspectable: All 280 cases show the draft, literature cards and first outcomes from both sides; judged cases also show the review rationale.
