FLOWING EVIDENCE BENCHMARK

How do we compare writing with and without cards?

At the same writing position, the same model produces one first result with cards and one without. All 280 pairs enter the overall anonymized review, which assesses whether a decision not to continue fits the draft.

Overall: 138 with-card wins, 26 ties, 107 no-card wins, 5 pairs where neither was usable, and 4 inconclusive judgments. Both sides wrote text in 218 pairs; 48 had a deliberate stop and 14 included an invalid output.

HOW DOES BLIND JUDGING WORK?

① Anonymize both outputs
The AI judge sees the same draft and both first outputs without knowing which received cards.

② Compare and swap order
The judge applies task-specific criteria in X/Y and then Y/X order.

③ Review disagreements
A third pass resolves disagreements. Incomplete reviews remain in the denominator.

How are positions and cards selected?

We selected 40 writing positions in each of seven fields, for 280 comparisons. The position and relevant literature cards were set before each comparison, so both versions began from the same draft.

The main result retains every frozen position, including places where cards might not add a useful next move. This avoids selecting cases based on their outputs, but 49% describes the whole cohort, not a win rate where evidence clearly had an opportunity to help. This cohort did not record that opportunity label for each position before generation, so those two groups cannot yet be separated reliably.

CARD USE · 140/280

Reported card use in continuations with text

The model reports whether a card affected its continuation. In 140 of 280 tests it produced continuation text and reported card use. The previous count of 150 included 10 cases without continuation text and has been corrected.

Which written version was better?

Of the 107 reported-use cases where both versions produced text, the blinded AI judge preferred the with-card version 70 times, found 7 about the same, and preferred the without-card version 30 times.

A Comprehensive Review of Geometrical Thermodynamics: From Fluctuations to Black Holes

VI Conclusion

In addition, we explored the utilization of the thermodynamic metrics mentioned above in the context of black hole thermodynamics. We demonstrated that the Weinhold, Ruppeiner, and Fisher-Rao metrics yield inconsistent outcomes when applied to the same black holes due to their lack of Legendre invariance. While the Quevedo metric resolves the issue of conflicting results from previous metrics, it contains additional divergencies in its Ricci scalar that do not correspond to phase transition points.

To address these challenges, Hendi et al. introduced a novel metric that eliminates the problems encountered with previous thermodynamic metrics by eliminating extra singular points. Furthermore, we examined alternative approaches within the realm of thermodynamic geometry for black holes, which can be applied to any thermodynamic system. One such approach, proposed by Mansouri et al., established a connection between singularities of the scalar curvature at constant charge and phase transition points of the heat capacity at a constant electric potential.

Read overall AI review rationale

A = with cards · B = without cards

The draft ends with a discussion of Mansouri et al.'s approach connecting 'singularities of the scalar curvature at constant charge and phase transition points of the heat capacity at constant electric potential.' This is a specific technical result that advances the argument. The paragraph needs a continuation that either synthesizes this with the broader narrative or moves to implications/conclusions. Output A provides a concrete factual claim: 'the Ruppeiner curvature was repeatedly found to diverge exactly at the points where the heat capacity at constant charge diverges.' However, this directly contradicts the draft's own statement. The draft explicitly says the Ruppeiner metric 'yield[s] inconsistent outcomes' and lacks 'Legendre invariance,' and that the Quevedo metric has 'additional divergencies...that do not correspond to phase transition points.' More critically, the draft specifically attributes the constant-charge/heat-capacity connection to 'Mansouri et al.' as a novel alternative approach, not to the Ruppeiner metric itself. The sources confirm Ruppeiner curvature diverges at heat capacity divergence points, but the draft has already rejected Ruppeiner as problematic. Output A's claim is therefore an unsupported claim in context—it misattributes Mansouri et al.'s specific framework to Ruppeiner generally, and ignores the draft's established narrative that Ruppeiner is flawed. This creates a material contradiction with the manuscript's argument. Output B provides a conceptual synthesis: 'the choice of metric is not a neutral technicality but a substantive physical assumption.' This accurately captures the draft's trajectory—from Weinhold/Ruppeiner/Quevedo problems, to Hendi's fix, to Mansouri's alternative—without introducing contradictory specifics. It generalizes the lesson the draft has been building toward. The draft has been comparing metrics and their problems; a concluding observation about metric choice being physically substantive is a natural, coherent continuation that requires no repair. Output A is usable in form but contains an unsupported claim that contradicts the draft's argument. Output B is fully usable and fits the argumentative arc.

The phase transition of Reissner-Nordstr\"om black holes in ($n+1$)-dimensional anti--de Sitter spacetime is studied in detail using the thermodynamic analogy between a RN-AdS black hole and a van der Waals liquid-gas system. We first investigate critical phenomena of the RN-AdS black hole. The critical exponents of relevant thermodynamical quantities are evaluated. We find identical exponents for a RN-AdS black hole and a van der Waals liquid-gas system. This suggests a possible universality in the phase transitions of these systems. We finally study the thermodynamic behavior using the equilibrium thermodynamic state space geometry and find that the scalar curvature diverges exactly at the van der Waals--like critical point where the heat capacity at constant charge of the black hole diverges.

In this paper, we study the phase structure and equilibrium state space geometry of charged topological Gauss-Bonnet black holes in $d$-dimensional anti--de Sitter spacetime. Several critical points are obtained in the canonical ensemble, and the critical phenomena and critical exponents near them are examined. We find that the phase structures and critical phenomena drastically depend on the cosmological constant $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ and dimensionality $d$. The result also shows that there exists an analogy between the black hole and the van der Waals liquid gas system. Moreover, we explore the phase transition and possible property of the microstructure using the state space geometry. It is found that the Ruppeiner curvature diverges exactly at the points where the heat capacity at constant charge of the black hole diverges. This black hole is also found to be a multiple system, i.e., it is similar to the ideal gas of fermions in some range of the parameters, while to the ideal gas …

We study the thermodynamics and thermodynamic geometry of a five-dimensional Reissner-Nordstr\"om-AdS black hole in the extended phase space by treating the cosmological constant as being related to the number of colors in the boundary gauge theory and its conjugate quantity as the associated chemical potential. We find that the contribution of the charge of the black hole to the chemical potential is always positive, and the existence of charge makes the chemical potential become positive more easily. We calculate the scalar curvatures of the thermodynamical Weinhold metric, Ruppeiner metric, and Quevedo metric, respectively, in the fixed ${N}^{2}$ case and the fixed $q$ case. We find that in the fixed ${N}^{2}$ case, the divergence of the scalar curvature is related to the divergence of the specific heat with fixed electric potential in the Weinhold metric and Ruppeiner metric, and the divergence of the scalar curvature in the Quevedo metric corresponds to the divergence of the speci …

We generalize the quasilocal definition of the stress-energy tensor of Einstein gravity to the case of third order Lovelock gravity, by introducing the surface terms that make the action well-defined. We also introduce the boundary counterterm that removes the divergences of the action and the conserved quantities of the solutions of third order Lovelock gravity with zero curvature boundary at constant $t$ and $r$. Then, we compute the charged rotating solutions of this theory in $n+1$ dimensions with a complete set of allowed rotation parameters. These charged rotating solutions present black hole solutions with two inner and outer event horizons, extreme black holes or naked singularities provided the parameters of the solutions are suitably chosen. We compute temperature, entropy, charge, electric potential, mass and angular momenta of the black hole solutions, and find that these quantities satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. We find a Smarr-type formula and perform a stabilit …

As a vector-tensor theory including nonminimal coupling between the Ricci tensor and a vector field, the bumblebee gravity is a potential theory to test Lorentz symmetry violation. Recently, a new class of numerical spherical black holes in the bumblebee theory was constructed. In this paper, we investigate the associated local thermodynamic properties. By introducing a pair of conjugated thermodynamic quantities $X$ and $Y$, which can be interpreted as an extension of electric potential and charge of the Reissner-Nordstr\"om black holes, we numerically construct a new first law of thermodynamics for bumblebee black holes. We then study the constant-$Y$ processes in the entropy-charge parameter space. For the constant-$Y$ processes, we also calculate the heat capacity to study the local thermodynamic stability of the bumblebee black holes. For a negative nonminimal coupling coefficient $\ensuremath{\xi}$, we find both divergent and smooth phase transitions. For a positive but small $\e …

These developments underscore the central lesson of geometrical thermodynamics: the choice of metric is not a neutral technicality but a substantive physical assumption that determines which features of the thermodynamic state space are accessible to geometric analysis.

Earlier card-use comparison

The earlier diagnostic compared only cases with reported card use and text on both sides; its scope differs from the overall AI review above.

The blinded model review preferred the Evidence version. Its original rationale appears below.

Read the original model judgment

Output A provides a coherent continuation grounded in the sources. The claim that 'the Ruppeiner curvature was repeatedly found to diverge exactly at the points where the heat capacity at constant charge diverges' is directly supported by source 1 ('the scalar curvature diverges exactly at the van der Waals--like critical point where the heat capacity at constant charge of the black hole diverges') and source 2 ('the Ruppeiner curvature diverges exactly at the points where the heat capacity at constant charge of the black hole diverges'). The paragraph connects naturally to the draft's discussion of thermodynamic metrics and their singularities. Output B makes an unsupported philosophical claim about 'the central lesson of geometrical thermodynamics' and 'substantive physical assumption' that is not found in any source. The draft discusses specific metric behaviors and their problems, but does not generalize to this broad epistemological claim about metric choice being 'not a neutral technicality.' This is an invented interpretation without source support.
